Just when we thought the South African Winter couldn’t get any colder, the boys at BMW’s M division have come along and proved us wrong once again and taken it all the way to freezing point. That’s right everyone…welcome the limited edition M powered Frozen Editions.
Available in both the M3 and M5 models, the Frozen Edition offers new matt finish “Frozen” paint jobs, tweaked performance and a collective R420 000 in extras. With amazing looks and ultra-exclusivity, it has all the tools to set each owner apart from other M-power drivers.
The new M3 M Performance Edition is powered by a 313kW V8 engine with a seven-speed M DCT transmission and variable M differential. The new model comes with a Competition Package as standard, which lowers suspension by 10mm, Electronic Damper Control with sport mode and a revised DSC+ system.
The M3 M Performance Edition comes fully kitted out with 19″ ‘M’ Y-spoked black alloys, chromed exhaust, side gills and kidney surround. Other style updates includes a black air intakes, carbon-fibre front splitters. Other extras include adaptive headlights and a Harman/Kardon 13-speaker system. The interior comes with front seat heating and parking assist, designer floor mats, leather steering wheel, front headrests with M stitching and door sills with a BMW M Performance Edition logo.
As for the M5, the M Performance Edition comes equipped with a 417Kw TwinPower Turbo V8 engine, along with 20″ M souble-spoke black alloy wheels, chromed exhaust, side gills and kidney surrounds. Other extras in the limited edition includes M Sport multi-function seats, powered boot lid, sun protection glass, split-folding rear seats, comfort access and soft close doors.
The M5 also comes equipped with a reversing assist camera, high-beam assist, and a multimedia system sporting 12 speakers, USB, MP3 and mobile connectivity.
Exclusivity is also a huge factor for its even bigger price tag. Only 30 examples will be built of each of these machines, so getting the cheque book ready would be advisable! Prices are at R 975 000 for the M3 and well over a Million for the M5.
Right, now that you know how awesome they are…here’s the sad news. South African M-car enthusiasts will have to emigrate to the UK as the new models are being built solely for the UK market with just the thirty models planned.
Just knowing they’re out there would make the ultimate BMW M enthusiast literally go to the ends of the earth to find it, and it would be worth every penny.
